Question: What is the best tarot starter deck?
Answer: Short answer – there isn’t one.
The tarot deck you decide to start with is a personal decision. You should choose a tarot deck that speaks to you in order to get the most out of it.
There are a number of beginner tarot books which teach the Rider-Waite tarot, and if you feel comfortable learning about Rider-Waite, then by all means, choose that deck. My own first tarot deck was the Mystic Tarot and it still remains one of my favorite decks to this day.
I’ve touched on this subject a bit in “How To Read Tarot: First Rule of Thumb” – but when you’re looking for a tarot deck, go with your gut. It will be easier to learn the tarot when you are in sync with the cards.
